Randall Cobb Is Already Giving Back
Rookie Randall Cobb is making the most of his time during the lockout. Despite being unable to participate in organized team activities and minicamps with his new teammates in Green Bay, Cobb told Dave Link of GoVolsXtra.com that he has been everywhere else this summer.
“Been out in L.A. a little bit for a photo shoot for rookie cards and pictures,” Cobb said while signing autographs in his hometown of Alcoa, Tennessee. “I’ll be signing here, and training out there (in L.A.), and I went to Phoenix and trained with Larry Fitzgerald and a couple of the guys there, and I’ve been in Florida working out at IMG Academies and had a rookie symposium this past week.”
The former University of Kentucky star returned to his native Tennessee to celebrate the Fourth of July holiday with friends and family, but his trip home is not all fun and fireworks. Cobb is making plans to fund a college scholarship for high school athletes in Alcoa.
“There’s a lot of things that I wanna do and try to help out in the community,” Cobb said. “I think it’s all about giving back.”
Lockout or not, Cobb understands how fortunate his situation is, and he wants to show others how to follow his path.
“I’ve put myself in a good situation. I just want to show [kids] how I became successful and how I got to where I am today.”
