Packers Sign “Goode” Long-Snapper; Desmond Bishop Contract Details
The Green Bay Packers have extended long-snapper Brett Goode to a two-year extension worth approximately $1.6 million. Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports that the deal will include a signing bonus of $300,000 and base salaries of $580,500 in 2011 and $676,000 in 2012.
Silverstein also reported dollar amounts for linebacker Desmond Bishop’s contract.
It includes $5 million in guaranteed money and features base salaries of $1.188 million in 2011, $2.826 million in ’12, $3.464 million in ’13 and $3.522 million in ’14. There’s another $2 million in roster and workout bonuses.
It also appears that both contracts were signed before Saturday’s deadline to apply money towards this season. The timing is significant because it allows the Packers to allocate more money towards the current, uncapped season as opposed to next season where the salary cap will presumably return.
With an uncertain CBA on the horizon, the extensions of Bishop and Goode allow the Packers’ front office to have two fewer worries when they head into the offseason.
